I really could not be happier with what the 6th graders are accomplishing this Fall. This group is incredibly creative and are displaying an amazing amount of individuality as they figure out how to create their fun and imaginative creatures!
Students have been working with found objects to create their sculptures...and they look incredible! The amount of focus that 6th Graders put into this project is amazing. The kids are having so much fun going "shopping" in the bags that I've collected...many kids will need to bring in more from home. I've told them to seek out "junk drawers" in their homes, and to ask parents before taking anything! These works will be displayed at our December show!! HOMEWORK: Students are supposed to be documenting their designs and continued ideas in their sketchbooks. Students have been introduced to the theme for our next project, the Found Objects Creatures. Everyone will be drawing and planning in their sketchbooks this week. Students are also REQUIRED to bring in a plastic shopping bag with at least 3 found objects/recyclables that they may be able to use in their piece by early next week at the latest. These bags should be labeled with the student's name.
