Students were shown local artist Dean Nimmer's ,"100 Drawings", works before creating their own abstract pieces. Nimmer's wrote a book on the importance of drawing or painting everyday to build up confidence and knowledge about personal artmaking. His work is very abstract and focuses on the elements of line, texture, color, and shape. Students worked in oil pastels where they practiced layering and blending techniques with the medium. Here are some working photos, and photos of finished pieces.
